Storyline:

After a crash landing on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a stranger with a mysterious past, begins a new life among a peaceful settlement of farmers. But she soon becomes their only hope for survival when the tyrannical Regent Balisarius (Fra Fee) and his cruel emissary, Admiral Noble (Ed Skrein), discover the farmers have unwittingly sold their crops to the Bloodaxes (Cleopatra Coleman and Ray Fisher) — leaders of a fierce group of insurgents hunted by the Motherworld.

Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, or simply Rebel Moon, is an American epic space opera film directed by Zack Snyder from a screenplay he co-wrote with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten, based on a story Snyder conceived. Its ensemble cast features Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Charlie Hunnam, and Anthony Hopkins.

The film is set in a fictional galaxy ruled by the imperialistic Motherworld, whose military, the Imperium, threatens a farming colony on the moon of Veldt. Kora, a former Imperium soldier, ventures on a quest to recruit warriors from across the galaxy to make a stand against the Imperium before they return to Veldt.

Filming began on April 19, 2022, with Snyder sharing the first images from the set on Twitter that day. It ran until December 2, with 152 days of filming taking place in California, to tap into $83 million in qualified spending and tax incentives.

On August 20, 2023, the titles for the two parts were reported to be A Child of Fire and The Scargiver, respectively.

This is the third collaboration of Jena Malone and Zack Snyder, after Sucker Punch (2011) and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).

This is the second Netflix exclusive film to have a longer version of N logo instead of Tadum short.

Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire had a limited theatrical release on December 15, 2023, before its streaming debut on Netflix on December 22.

Rebel Moon received generally negative reviews from critics. An R-rated extended cut is set for release in mid-2024, and a sequel, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, was released on April 19, 2024.
