- It is the sequel to the 2018 film The Equalizer 2, and will serve as the final installment of The Equalizer trilogy, which is loosely based on the TV series of the same name.
- Principal photography for the film began on October 10, 2022, on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Filming continued in the region until November 20, after which it moved to Naples in early December, before wrapping production by January 2023, in Rome.
- The film is the fifth collaboration between Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua, following Training Day (2001), The Equalizer (2014), The Magnificent Seven (2016), and The Equalizer 2 (2018).
- This film reunites Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning from the film Man on Fire.
- The Equalizer 3 is set to be released by Sony Pictures Releasing on September 1, 2023. It was in British Cinemas by August 30, 2023.
