The Northman is an American epic historical action-adventure film directed by Robert Eggers, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sjón. The film stars Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Björk, and Willem Dafoe.
It is based on The legend of Amleth by Saxo Grammaticus. The plot follows Amleth, a Viking prince who sets out on a quest to avenge the murder of his father. The film is heavily influenced by Norse mythology.

The Viking Age.
