Storyline:

Sheru and Tiku are marginalized souls from the underprivileged strata of society. They are ambitious for a better life but, life has different plans for them. Shiraz, popularly known as Sheru, hails from Bhopal, a small-town in India. Sheru comes to Mumbai in search of a better life. Being semi-literate, he works as a pimp for a local don, Shahid Bhai, and also as a junior artist as a decoy job, where he finds girls for his pimping business. He risks everything to win the confidence of his boss to be promoted as an equal partner. Taslim, aka Tiku, lives with her large conservative Muslim family in Bhopal. To break free from her family, she runs away to Delhi under the pretext of higher studies, where she falls in love with a man from a different religion, but her family marry her off to the first available eligible bachelor, Sheru. Sheru accepts the proposal in desperation of repaying a loan, while Tiku sees Sheru as her passport to freedom. However, Sheru falls in love with Tiku but they get caught between the chaos of the underworld, drugs, and romance and face one tragedy after the other without any time to deal with their sorrow.

About Tiku Weds Sheru Movie:

• The film was initially titled as “Divine Lovers”, with Irrfan Khan and Kangana Ranaut as main leads in 2016.
• The film got stalled because director Sai Kabir felt severely ill for three to four years. When the filmmaker went back to working on the script, Irrfan passed away in April 2020.
• Kangana was also not in the same frame of mind that she was eight to ten years ago. Hence they decided to bring in a new cast.
• After Irrfan Khan’s demise, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was cast for the male lead, and Avneet Kaur was finalized as the female lead.
• The lead actors, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur with the producer, Kangana Ranaut at the wrap-up party of the film.
• Besides the fresh pairing, casting brought to the fore the old debate of the huge age gap between the male and the female actor. On this, Ranaut expressed that she overlooked 27-year age gap between the stars as the pair seemed her well-suited for the storyline, and Kaur stated that she does not see the age gap as a problem as it was a requirement for the film.
• The film is Kangana’s maiden production after the launch of her production house in 2020.
• The film’s pre-production began in October 2021.
• Principal photography began on 8 November 2021 in Mumbai, outdoor schedule began on 20 December 2021 in Bhopal and its last schedule began on 22 January 2022 back in Mumbai.
• The film wrapped up on 1 February 2022.
• The film’s official trailer was released on 14 June 2023.
• Tiku Weds Sheru premiered on 23 June 2023 on Amazon Prime Video.
