About Vettaiyan Movie:
Vettaiyan is an upcoming Tamil action drama film starring Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Kishore, Rohini, and Rao Ramesh. It is written and directed by T. J. Gnanavel and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under Lyca Productions.
The film was officially announced in March 2023 under the tentative title Thalaivar 170, being the 170th film of Rajinikanth as the lead actor, and the official title Vettaiyan was announced on 12 December 2023, coinciding with Rajinikanth’s 73rd birthday.
Principal photography for the film began in October 2023 and is currently occurring sporadically in several legs. Filming locations included Thiruvananthapuram, Tirunelveli, Chennai, Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh, and Hyderabad.
The music and background scores are composed by Anirudh Ravichander, in his fourth collaboration with Rajinikanth after Petta (2019), Darbar (2020), and Jailer (2023).
Vettaiyan is expected to be released theatrically in 2024. It was made on a budget of ₹160 crore (US$20 million), which is one of the lowest for Rajinikanth in recent times. The film will be released in Tamil along with dubbed versions in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
