Storyline:

The origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots, and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.

About Echo TV Series:

Echo is an American superhero crime action-adventure television miniseries, based on Marvel Comics. The series stars Alaqua Cox, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Charlie Cox, Devery Jacobs, Zahn McClarnon, Cody Lightning, and Graham Greene.

It is the tenth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise, and is a spin-off of the series Hawkeye (2021).

Development of the series began in March 2021, when Alaqua Cox was confirmed to be returning and Etan and Emily Cohen were attached as head writers.

Alaqua Cox is the first disabled actress to play a titular leading character in a Marvel Studios production. She was born deaf, just like the character in the original comics, and has a prosthetic leg.

Echo was formally announced in November 2021. Principal photography for the series began on April 21, 2022, at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville, Georgia as well as throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area, in Atlanta, with Freeland and McKenzie directing.

Echo was released in its entirety simultaneously on Disney+ and Hulu on January 9, 2024, consisting of five episodes. It is Marvel Studios’ first television release to debut on Hulu and to receive a TV-MA rating. It is part of Phase Five of the MCU and the first series under the “Marvel Spotlight” banner.
