The Great Indian Kapil Show Wraps Up Season 1 on Netflix as Viewership Declines Reported

The Great Indian Kapil Show, a popular comedy series created, hosted, and produced by Kapil Sharma, has concluded its first season on Netflix amidst reports of a decline in viewership. The show, which premiered on Netflix on 30 March 2024, was expected to bring a fresh wave of laughter and entertainment to the platform. However, it seems that the show’s viewership has been steadily decreasing throughout its run.

The series format is largely identical to that of Sharma’s former shows The Kapil Sharma Show and Comedy Nights with Kapil. The show revolves around Kapil Sharma and his team of comedians, including Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek, and Rajiv Thakur. Archana Puran Singh is the permanent guest of the show.

After sparking speculation with an Instagram story, Archana Puran Singh has officially confirmed the completion of shooting for the first season of The Kapil Sharma Show. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Singh revealed, “Yes, we have wrapped up the shoot of season one of TGIKS; we shot the last episode of the season yesterday.”

The actress, who is a regular on the show, expressed her excitement about the season finale, stating, “It was great fun and celebration on the sets.” Singh also reflected on the journey so far, saying, “The journey so far on the show has been quite amazing. It was a delightful journey, and we had some amazing times on the sets.”

Netflix has not officially commented on the show’s performance or its future on the platform. However, industry insiders suggest that the show’s declining viewership may have played a significant role in the decision to conclude the first season. Despite this, fans of the show are still hopeful that it will return for a second season, given its potential to entertain and bring people together.

Despite no official confirmation regarding the second season of The Great Indian Kapil Show, comedian Kiku Sharda has hinted at its eventual return. While the shooting has been halted temporarily, Sharda reassured fans that the show will indeed be back for another season. “We have completed 13 episodes, and the second season will be out soon,” he mentioned in an interview with News18. He further elaborated that the break in shooting was always planned, and preparations for the next season are already underway, promising that there won’t be a significant gap between the seasons.

In the meantime, fans of The Great Indian Kapil Show can continue to enjoy the show’s first season on Netflix and hope that it will return in the future.
