• Principal photography began in Montana in October 2021.
• In September 2021, it was announced that Saban Films had acquired North American, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Scandinavia distribution rights to the film.
• This is Nicolas Cage’s Western film since The Old Way (2023).
• Tye Sheridan and Alex Wolff were considered for the role of Will as they worked with Nicolas Cage before but director Gable Polsky wanted a younger actor.
• It is the second collaboration between Gabe Polsky and Nicolas Cage as Polsky produced Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009). This is also the 5th collaboration between Nicolas Cage and Xander Berkeley.
• Nicolas Cage shaved his head for the film, which is the first time for Cage to be bald in a movie.
• Butcher’s Crossing had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2022. The film was released by Saban Films on October 20, 2023.
