Dhoom 3 (transl. Blast 3) is a Hindi action thriller film written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra, who co-wrote the story. It stars Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Uday Chopra, Jackie Shroff, and Tabrett Bethell. It is the final installment of the Dhoom series and the sequel to Dhoom (2004) and Dhoom 2 (2006).
The film sees Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra reprise their roles as protagonists Jai and Ali, while Aamir Khan plays the antagonist. Dhoom 3 was released on 20 December 2013 and was the first Indian film to be released in the IMAX motion picture film format with Dolby Atmos surround sound.
The film was released on 21 December 2013, to mixed reviews from critics alike. It grossed ₹400 crore (US$68.26 million) worldwide in just ten days, to become the highest-grossing Indian film of all time at that time, before becoming the first Indian film to cross ₹500 crore (US$85.33 million). It also became the 14th highest-grossing Indian film of all time. The film was screened during the 2014 International Film Festival of India in the Celebrating Dance in Indian Cinema section.
