Storyline
During the backdrop of the “Crush India” campaign in 1971, Tara Singh goes missing during a skirmish on the border and is believed to be imprisoned in Pakistan. Learning this, Tara’s son Charanjeet “Jeete” Singh goes to save him, but Tara is not in Pakistan, and Jeete gets imprisoned and tortured by the Pakistan soldiers under Major General Hamid Iqbal, who wants to exact revenge on Tara for eliminating his 40 men during his escape with his wife Sakeena and Jeete from Pakistan in 1947. Learning about this after reuniting with Sakeena, Tara sets out to rescue Jeete from Hamid Iqbal and his men.

About Gadar 2 Movie
- It is a direct Sequel to the 2001 Bollywood blockbuster film ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha‘ which was also directed by Anil Sharma.
- The trailer was released in India on 26 July 2023. The teaser was released on 12th June 2023, coinciding with the 22nd anniversary of Gadar Ek Prem Katha.
- Gadar Ek Prem Katha was re-released in cinemas, on 9th June 2023.
- Set during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, it takes place 24 years after the events of the first part.
- Nimrat Khaira was offered the role of Tara Singh’s wife Sakeena in September 2021. Khaira rejected the offer of Sakeena’s role after a few days. She did this in the wake of the 2020–2021 Indian farmers’ protest. Khaira said that Zee Studio and Bollywood oppose the 2020–2021 Indian farmers’ protest. So she will not work in any Bollywood film.
- According to Zee Studio, 20 million advanced tickets were booked.
- Gadar 2 was theatrically released on 11 August 2023. The film grossed over ₹684.59 crore worldwide and emerged as the year’s third-highest-grossing Indian film of 2023 and third-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023. It also became the eighth-highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
- The film was premiered on ZEE5 from 6 October 2023.
- A third film is being planned in the franchise, where Deol subsequently confirmed that Gadar 3 would be made but is not sure when the production would begin.
