Storyline:
Three aged friends — Amit, Om and Javed — take a trek to the Everest Base Camp, to fulfill their fourth friend Bhupen’s last wish. They’re joined by Mala along the way, who happens to be the long-lost love of Bhupen and regrets having not fought for their love. A simple trek turns out to be a personal, emotional, and spiritual journey as they battle their physical limitations and discover the true meaning of freedom.

- The film was announced in October 2021. The principal photography commenced in October 2021 and ended in April 2022, followed by post-production works.
- Uunchai has been shot at various locations in Nepal including at Lukla and Kathmandu. It has also been shot at Kargil, Delhi, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh.

- The last time Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, and Danny Denzongpa appeared together on screen was in 1991 for Mukul Anand’s blockbuster Hum. In that movie, they all played enemies of each other and in this movie, they all played best friends.
