Storyline
Pilot Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island – only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI. In order to rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare’s help, and will learn there’s more to Gaspare than meets the eye.

- The studio wanted a different title for the movie, but Gerard Butler insisted on keeping the title simple and went with “Plane”.

- The film was announced in 2016, acquired by Lionsgate in 2019, sold to Solstice Studios in 2020, and re-acquired by Lionsgate in 2021. It was shot in Puerto Rico.

- The movie was originally scheduled to be released in October 2022, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, because the production was affected by the lockdowns and travel restrictions imposed by various countries. The filming was completed in late 2021, but the post-production and marketing were delayed by several months.
