Storyline:
Poolman tells the story of Darren Barrenman (Chris Pine), a native Los Angeleno who spends his days looking after the pool of the Tahitian Tiki apartment block and fighting to make his hometown a better place to live. When he is tasked by a femme fatale to uncover the truth behind a shady business deal, Darren enlists the help of his friends to take on a corrupt politician and a greedy land developer. His investigation reveals a hidden truth about his beloved city and himself.

Poolman is an upcoming American comedy-mystery film that marks Chris Pine’s directorial debut. Pine is also involved as a producer, co-writer, and actor in the movie. The film also stars Annette Bening, DeWanda Wise, Stephen Tobolowsky, Clancy Brown, John Ortiz, Ray Wise, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Danny DeVito.
It was announced in February 2022 that Chris Pine was set to make his directorial debut in the film. Filming for Poolman began in June 2022 in Los Angeles. By November 2022, the film had entered post-production.
Distribution rights were sold by AGC International to Paramount Pictures, StudioCanal, Lionsgate Films, and other companies for various territories outside the United States. In the UK and Ireland, the distribution rights were acquired by Signature Entertainment.
Poolman premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2023. The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 10, 2024.
