Storyline

  • In 2013, Evan Parter’s screenplay for the film ended up on The Black List, an annual survey of the most popular screenplays that had not yet been produced.
  • Principal photography, originally scheduled to begin in November 2021, was confirmed to have begun the following month in New York City around 24th Street and 6th Avenue.
  • This is the second time Brian Cox has starred in a production with the word “Independent” in it. His first was the TV Mini-Series (2013) comedy “Bob Servant Independent,” where he played an “ordinary” citizen who decides to run in an upcoming election as an independent candidate.
  • Kathy Bates was originally attached to play the role of presidential candidate, but unable to due to scheduling conflicts. so Ann Dowd was cast instead.
