About Project Hail Mary Movie:

Project Hail Mary is an upcoming American science fiction film directed and co-produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and written by Drew Goddard. The film stars Ryan Gosling, and Sandra Hüller in the lead roles. This is Ryan Gosling’s first space movie since First Man (2018).

It is based on a highly successful novel of the same name by Andy Weir, published in 2021. The rights for the novel were acquired by MGM’s Michael De Luca for $3 million.

Project Hail Mary will be Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s first film as directors since 22 Jump Street (2014). It also marks their first directorial collaboration since their departure from Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018).

In March 2020, it was announced that Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) was close to finalizing a deal to acquire the film adaptation rights for Project Hail Mary, an upcoming novel by Andy Weir, with Ryan Gosling set to star in and produce the film.

Principal photography for the film began on June 3, 2024, in the United Kingdom.

Project Hail Mary is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 20, 2026, by Amazon MGM Studios through the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures label.
