Subani Moktan is a Nepalese singer, songwriter, music composer, RJ, and VJ. Besides her own independent music, she also works as a playback singer for movies. She also plays the guitar and piano and collaborates with several bands.

Subani is the daughter of famous veteran Nepali singers, Sila Bahadur Moktan and Kunti Moktan. Moktan, who rose to fame along with her sister, Shital Moktan at a very young age. “Timi Bina Ko Jeeban Kada Bho”, “Gham Pani”, “Mero Maya”, “Geet Mero Nepal Ho”, “Kati Risauchau” are still Subani favorite songs.

Subani Moktan Early Life and Education:

Subani Moktan was born on 31 December in Kathmandu Nepal. Subani was born as the youngest daughter of veteran Nepali singers Shila Bahadur Moktan and Kunti Moktan. She has one older sister Shital Moktan. She is also a very talented singer.

She completes her schooling at a local school and graduated from ACE Institute Management College (MBA). Being born to such a great musical family has been a privilege she is grateful for and had made it easier for her to begin her career. Her family never forced her into doing something she didn’t want and it was her own decision to have a career in music.

Moktan was very talented from an early age, she started learning the piano when she was 6. When she was in grade one, she had participated in an All Nepal Solo Singing Competition organized by Bal Mandir where she got the first position. At that time she was just 7 years old.

Subani Moktan Career:

Subani grew up in a musical atmosphere, her all family members belong to the music industry. So she used to learn music and sing from an early age. She had training in classical music and takes piano lessons with her Japanese teacher who introduces her to newer genres every lesson. She has also learned guitar with Phiroj Syandgen of 1974 AD.

At 14, she took up the guitar and started collaborating with artists such as Nirnaya da NSK and Khem Gurung.

She sang so many popular songs such as “Timi Bina Ko Jeeban Kada Bho”, “Gham Pani”, “Mero Maya”, “Geet Mero Nepal Ho”, “Kati Risauchau”, “Thaha Cha”, “Maya Ho Ki Maya Jastai” etc.

At 16, she won the Hits FM Music Award for Best New Artist. After the release of her 2nd album, Subani was awarded the HITS FM Music Award for “Best Pop Vocal Performance Female”.

Besides her own independent music, she also works as a playback singer for movies such as Jaba Pugchhu Riverside (Prem Geet), Nasha Ho Kollywood Ko (Kollywood), and so on. Subani does the voice for Ncell. So whenever a call doesn’t get through, you hear Subani voice.
