Cuckoo Trailer Unveils: Hunter Schafer's Chilling Horror Debut

The highly anticipated horror film “Cuckoo,” starring Hunter Schafer, Jan Bluthardt, Marton Csokas, Jessica Henwick, and Dan Stevens, has finally released its official trailer, and it promises a thrilling ride for fans of the genre.

Directed by Tilman Singer, the film follows 17-year-old Gretchen (Schafer) as she reluctantly moves to a resort in the German Alps with her father and his new family. However, things take a dark turn when they are greeted by Mr. König, her father’s boss, who takes an inexplicable interest in Gretchen’s mute half-sister Alma.

The trailer offers a glimpse into the eerie atmosphere of the film, with Schafer’s character plagued by strange noises and bloody visions. The cacophony of screeches and whirring noises heard in the trailer, along with the man’s voice saying, “The adolescent needs to be trained,” adds to the chilling effect.

Schafer’s character is seen pulling a butterfly knife from her pocket and flicking the blade menacingly, suggesting a sense of danger and urgency. The film also boasts an impressive cast, including Dan Stevens, Jessica Henwick, and Astrid Berges-Frisbey.

Singer, who previously directed the 2018 film “Luz,” is known for his distinctive voice in the horror genre, and “Cuckoo” is expected to captivate audiences with its blend of psychological horror and supernatural elements.

Cuckoo had its world premiere at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival in the Berlinale Special section on February 16, 2024. It also screened at South by Southwest on March 14, 2024, and at the Overlook Film Festival on April 4, 2024.

Cuckoo is set to hit theaters on August 9, 2024, and fans of horror are eagerly awaiting its release. With Neon behind it, the film might just be cuckoo enough to draw some cult attention.
