Storyline:

A rich landlord Neelakantam (Prakash Raj) has two daughters. His elder daughter (Poonam Bajwa) elopes with her boyfriend on the day of her marriage. Neelakantham finds all the friends who helped his daughter with eloping. One among them is Krishna (Allu Arjun). He is a happy lucky go person who falls in love with Meena (Sheela). Meena turns out to be the younger daughter of Neelakantham. The events that follow when the both of them decide to elope too forms the crux of the film.

About Movie:

Parugu is a Telugu romantic action drama written and directed by Bhaskar, the film features Allu Arjun, Sheela Kaur, and Prakash Raj in leading roles. Produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations, the film’s music was composed by Mani Sharma, with cinematography by Vijay K. Chakravarthy and editing by Marthand K. Venkatesh.

Parugu began production on March 15, 2007, in Hyderabad, with principal photography starting in June 2007. Filming locations included Hyderabad, Kerala, Kodaikanal, and Rajahmundry, with one song sequence shot in Jordan. Although filming was expected to finish by January 2008, it concluded in April 2008, and the film was released globally on May 1, 2008.

The movie performed well at the box office, generating a distributor share of ₹20 crore. It received critical acclaim, winning two Nandi Awards and a Filmfare Award South out of three nominations. Parugu was later remade in several languages, including Odia (Sanju Aau Sanjana, 2010), Bengali (Shedin Dekha Hoyechilo, 2010), Nepali (Dabab, 2013), and Hindi (Heropanti, 2014).

In the same year, the film was dubbed into Malayalam as Krishna, which became a blockbuster at the Kerala box office.
