Storyline:
The film Samrat Prithviraj is based on the life and heroism of the fearless and mighty Prithviraj Chauhan and superstar Akshay Kumar is essaying the role of the warrior. Historians and folk legends portray him as an incredibly brave king who stood in front of the merciless Muhammad of Ghor and his ruthless invaders of India. Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan`s daredevilry and heroism against Muhammad of Ghor catapulted him into a legendary ruler and fighter of free India.

Samrat Prithviraj is a Hindi epic historical action drama directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Films. The film is based on the Braj-language epic Prithviraj Raso, chronicling the life of King Prithviraj Chauhan from the Chahamana dynasty. Akshay Kumar stars as the titular character, with Manushi Chhillar making her Hindi film debut as Sanyogita. The cast also includes Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Manav Vij, Ashutosh Rana, and Sakshi Tanwar in significant roles.
Yash Raj Films released the motion poster on 9 September 2019, announcing its Diwali 2020 release. However, principal photography, which began on 15 November 2019 in Jaipur, was halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming resumed in October 2020 at YRF Studios. Originally titled Prithviraj, the film was renamed Samrat Prithviraj just a week before its release due to court litigation. It finally premiered on 3 June 2022.
Despite its grand scale, the film received mixed reviews from critics. With a reported budget ranging between ₹150 crore (US$18 million) and ₹300 crore (US$36 million), it grossed only ₹90.32 crore (US$11 million) worldwide, making it a major box office disappointment.
