Kim Ji-soo (Korean: 김지수), popularly known as Jisoo, is a South Korean singer and actress. She is a member of the South Korean girl group Blackpink, formed by YG Entertainment, in August 2016. Outside of her music career, she made her acting debut with a cameo role in the 2015 series The Producers and played her first leading role in the JTBC series Snowdrop (2021–22).
Jisoo made her solo music debut with the single album Me in March 2023. The album debuted at number one on the Circle Album Chart with 1.03 million copies sold in less than two days, becoming the best-selling album of all time by a female soloist in South Korea and the first to sell over a million copies. Its lead single “Flower” was a commercial success, peaking at number two on the Billboard Global 200 and the Circle Digital Chart and becoming the highest-charting song by a female K-pop soloist on the Canadian Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. In February 2024, she established her own label named Blissoo.
Jisoo has been awarded several accolades throughout her career, including two Golden Disc Awards, three MAMA Awards, a Circle Chart Music Award, and the Seoul International Drama Award for Outstanding Korean Actress. She is the most-followed Korean actress on Instagram, and has been recognized for her impact on fashion as a global ambassador for Dior.

Jisoo Early Life and Education:
Kim Ji-soo was born on January 3, 1995, in Gunpo, Gyeonggi, South Korea. Jisoo’s family consists of her grandparents, parents, an older brother, and a sister. She was born and brought up in a well-settled rich family. Prior to her debut, Jisoo lived with her parents, sister, brother, and grandparents.
She completed her early schooling at the Seoul Performing Arts High School, South Korea. As a child, she played basketball and attended taekwondo classes, also, she was a fan of TVXQ as a child. In 11th grade, she start-off drama club at her school and took on larger experience through auditions.
After completing high school, she enrolled herself at the Korea National University of Arts from where she completed her graduation. She completed her graduation in music. She was very active in music and acting during her school days and performed in musical theatres as well. In addition to her native Korean, she also learned to speak Chinese, Japanese, and English.
Jisoo Career:
Jisoo joined YG Entertainment in 2011 after successfully passing auditions. In 2014, she appeared in music videos for Epik High and Hi Suhyun, and made a cameo in the KBS2 drama “The Producers” in 2015. Jisoo debuted as a member of Blackpink on August 8, 2016, with their debut single album “Square One,” which included hit singles like “Whistle” and “Boombayah.” The group later signed with Interscope Records in 2018.
Between 2017 and 2018, Jisoo hosted “Inkigayo” alongside Jin-young from Got7 and Doyoung from NCT. She made her acting debut in 2019 with a cameo in the tvN drama “Arthdal Chronicles.” Jisoo’s style in Blackpink’s teasers for “How You Like That” went viral in June 2020, inspiring trends on social media. She contributed as a writer for Blackpink’s single “Lovesick Girls” in 2020.
In 2021, Jisoo landed her first leading role in the JTBC series “Snowdrop,” receiving acclaim for her performance. The show ranked highly on Disney+ in multiple countries and earned Jisoo the Outstanding Korean Actress award at the Seoul International Drama Awards in 2022. On January 2, 2023, Jisoo’s solo debut was announced by YG Entertainment, with plans for her album’s release later in the year. Filming for her music video commenced on February 21 at a secretive location overseas, boasting the highest production budget ever allocated for a Blackpink video. Her single album, “Me,” featuring the lead track “Flower” and the B-side “All Eyes on Me,” was unveiled on March 31, 2023. “Me” skyrocketed to the top of the Circle Album Chart, selling a remarkable 1.03 million copies within its debut week, setting new records as the best-selling album by a K-pop female soloist and the first to reach a million copies sold.
“Flower,” the album’s lead single, enjoyed immense success domestically and internationally, peaking at number two on the Circle Digital Chart and making waves on the Billboard Global 200. Jisoo showcased “Flower” on various platforms, including SBS’s Inkigayo, where she clinched multiple wins. Additionally, she performed the song at major music events like Coachella and BST Hyde Park. Beyond music, Jisoo made a cameo as a traditional Korean fairy in the film “Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman,” released in September 2023. She also landed lead roles in upcoming television series and movies, solidifying her position as a multi-talented entertainer. Jisoo’s accomplishments were further recognized when she was honored as an Honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charles III on November 22, 2023. Jisoo Personal Life (Boyfriend):
Jisoo has never either been in any relationships as well. This is probably because YG Entertainment is very strict about their singers dating. To date, there are no rumours of her dating anyone either but in an interview, she claimed that she has a crush on Kim Samuel an American singer, and claims that she needs someone very caring.
