CJ Jaravata was born in 1983, in Manila, Philippines. Her name C.J. stands for Criselda Janice. Her mother named her after two celebrities: Criselda, from the beauty queen Dang Cecilio whose real name is Criselda, and Janice because her mother was a fan of actress Janice De Belen.

CJ Jaravata began her acting career at a very young age, making her debut in the film “Narinig Mo Na Ba Ang L8est?” in 2001 when she was 17 or 18 years old.
